About My Skating Career

Meghan Harrington

Provincial Coach

I started skating at 2 years old and instantly fell in love with the sport. I first competed at 5 years old, began ice and and pair skating at 7 years old with the same partner I would skate with for 8 years. In 1994, my partner and I attended the Canadian National Championships in Edmonton in pair skating, all the while, I was still competing singles. I was a Junior level single skater, as well as a Junior level pair skater. I underwent a surgery at the age of 18 and so came the near close of my competitive career. At 19 I joined Disney on Ice and traveled the world for 6 consecutive years performing in front of hundreds of audiences. In 2005 I decided it was time to move on and began coaching at the Port Credit Skating Club. Since then, I have found a passion for helping young skaters fall in love with the sport and reaching for the stars. As athletes learn, so do we as coaches. I have had athletes win National titles in the U.S for show skating, numerous skaters and medalists at the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships and Skate Canada Challenge. Each athlete holds a special place in my heart and becomes a part of my family.
